About The Barista

Christina "Tina" Harris
Aka Tina Von Langlitz

Why the different last name: Harris is my married name, which I no longer am. When I made the choice to go to my family name of Von Langlitz I had changed my facebook, all my emails, everything, but at the last second, before signing the paper, I backed out. I didn't want my daughter to have a different last name, so I kept Harris, however, Von Langlitz stuck to everyone as a sort of stage name.
Silly, I agree, but I like to keep my family name alive and plan to incorporate it into my shop one day.

Why the circus theme: The circus plays a giant role in who I am as a person, I have always had a passion for it and spent many years working at my circus arts, only to realize it wasn't the path for me. It speaks to my artistic side, my creative side, and has always been a signature part of who I am.

What is your favorite coffee: This is a question that's important to have simply because its impossible to answer. There are coffees for every mood and every person, its just a matter of what mood you are in and what tastes you like the most. Some days I want a nice tea like coffee, others I was the most bold roast from a siphon. There is no favorite coffee in my eyes.

Whats your favorite part of making a drink: My favorite part is the complexity that is hidden behind what seems to be a simple, yet tasty, drink. The different drinks are so close and yet so different at the same time, its the tiniest things that make them different. For instant, the different between a wet or dry cappuccino, or making a flat white. The different between a misto and a cafe con leche. Even with brewing, it's a science, it's an art, its amazing and beautiful.

What drives you: In the beginning it was simple, to create a great life for my daughter, one she would be proud of one day. Now, it's still my daughter that drives me, but it's also an understanding of what I really want in life and what makes me happy. I want to be great at making coffee, I want to make people happy, and I want to create a wonderful thing to pass down to my daughter, who at 2 already likes coffee!
